I'm Modesta Gorol, a printmaking artist and painter specializing in intaglio techniques such as etching and aquatint. Through my art, I portray a narrative frozen in two-dimensional space, crafting visual stories and invented spaces.
I also engage in illustration and creative graphic projects in my everyday work. Thanks to my musical background, my art is often inspired by sounds. My experiences with classical music enable me to collaborate seamlessly with musicians in interdisciplinary artistic projects.
Botanical Garden
Graphic inspired by the biodiversity of the Botanical Garden in Dresden, Germany. The artwork tells stories, some of which you won't find in books or on the Internet. I collected them by interviewing people working in this garden.
Embedded in the basic cartography, the graphic depicts the contemporary and invented future garden life.
What are the most important plants? Do we need Australian Ladybugs to survive? Can you find a crocodile in the greenhouse? Will the rear buildings ever be built?
